I will set no wicked thing before my eyes

"Kiss Me" – the invitation flashed across the photo of a scantily clad young women…[Teens] just enjoying the latest method of socializing with their friends…are sharing very personal, often provocative and trashy information…

That is the beginning of an article by Rebecca Hagelin. The article, "MySpace.com, Web 'Hang-Outs' Open Doors to Danger for Teens", is just one of many that warn against the many dangers of MySpace.

I took some time several weeks ago to check out MySpace, after all as youth pastor I want to know what's going on in the world of the teenager. After a very short time browsing the site I decided that I would not visit again. Since then, my wife has visited several times. I am not saying that everything on the internet is bad, after all, I am posting this on a blog, but the description at the beginning of this post is bad. Also, the things that I saw were in no way wholesome, that is why I won't go there any more.

As my wife has checked it out more, she tells my that the majority of pics of the girls who have a page on MySpace are nothing that any guy, especially a believer, should ever look at. After all, Paul does tell us that we are to think on those things that are good and right and pure. What you fill you minds with, through your eyes and ears, is what you will think on. If you are on MySpace, is what you are filling your mind with good and right and pure?

MySpace is not just your space.

Everybody is doing it. You've just gotta' have a page on myspace.com or you're not cool. Right? Well it does seem that just about everybody is doing it, at least everybody in the 14-25 age range. Many teens (and you may be one of them) post information as though it is written in you own personal diary. Well, myspace is far from your own personal diary. In January of '06 some 35.6 million unique visitors visited myspace. There are countless investigations by police departments across the country (New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Louisiana, Michigan, to name a few) involving murders, assaults and other crimes, all taking place after someone met the victim on myspace. A report from the CBS Evening News says,

The site requires users be 14 or older, and they are warned not to post any "personally identifiable material" but the teens we spoke to say that advice is routinely ignored. – Feb. 6, 2006

Watch out, it's not just your space.
